The Summer Acting Program with the Maggie Flanigan Studio is an intensive program for actors interested in professional actor training. The Summer Acting Program includes a six-week Meisner intensive, as well as many other individual acting classes.
Summer Acting Program Online – Maggie Flanigan Studio
Hi, everybody. My name is Charlie Sandlan, and I am the owner and master teacher of the Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York City. I’m sure that like you, you have had to reimagine and reframe what you want to do for the next six months and the following year. Those of you that are coming out of undergrad, out of a BA program, or maybe have been thinking about moving to New York City to pursue an acting career seriously; we have important news. The Maggie Flanigan Studio has decided to take its entire summer conservatory online, and we will do that for as long as we need to. Our six-week summer intensive, which will start on July 20th, will bring you the first third of Meisner’s training.
This program will teach you how to get the attention off of yourself, how to get out of your head, so you can listen, answer, and respond. We’re going to start to sensitize your instrument so that your empathy and your humanity can begin to come to the surface. I’m going to teach you how to craft the way an actor needs to learn how to craft. We’re going to do that for the first month of our time together. Then I’m going to take that, and we’re going to apply it to scenes so that you get a sense of how to improvise your way through a script and be fully vividly alive in the imaginary world.
The other teachers at the studio are going to be teaching you voice, movement, Shakespeare dialects, on camera, and playwriting to you, from wherever you are in the world.
