Philosophy

I like to say I have a no nonsense approach to fostering what I believe are the three key components to being a consistently good auditioner and professional; First your sense of play, auditioning is supposed to be fun and if it isn’t you have to find a way into enjoying it since for a long time it is 90% of what you will be doing. Second work ethic: A carefully curated system on how you approach Sides and be able to work quickly and effectively as soon as you get an audition. And last mindset: Protecting your authenticity and the vision you have for your career and future to ensure longevity and prevent burnout.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

It essentially all goes back to a Jeff Olson quote I was told while I myself was studying at the Maggie Flanigan Studio: “Show up consistently. Show up consistently with a positive outlook. Be prepared for and committed to the long haul. Cultivate a burning desire backed by faith. Be willing to pay the price.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“I was placed in the intense reigns of Charlie Sandlan.  I became a better artist, actor, friend, sibling and daughter because of the studio. Even now, I crave the studio every day. What I learned is present in my work every day. I truly believe in everything they stand for.”

Jes Macallan

Maggie taught me that I could control my work, my acting, and to throw all of the bullshit out that I had in my head about ‘what I should be doing’ and to just listen and respond honestly, in the moment. She gave me a craft. She is, quite simply put, THE BEST.”

Maggie Flanigan taught me the true meaning of artistry, passion, and professionalism. I am certain that I continue to work as an actress because of my training with Maggie. At every audition and every performance, her guiding voice is with me. It is a gift beyond measure.”
