The Maggie Flanigan Studio is not a collection of acting classes.
It is a professional actor conservatory in New York City built upon a simple belief: every class should serve the development of the actor.
Truthful acting demands far more than talent. It requires a free voice, an expressive body, a disciplined imagination, emotional resilience, intellectual curiosity, and a rigorous process for creating behavior.
Our conservatory curriculum develops every dimension of the actor's instrument. Each semester builds upon the last. Every discipline supports the others. Nothing has been added simply to fill a schedule.
The result is an actor capable of creating truthful, vivid, transformational human behavior — and sustaining a lifetime devoted to the craft.
THE CONSERVATORY EXPERIENCE
Our conservatory is completed over two years.
Each year serves a distinct artistic purpose.
The first year develops the actor's instrument by establishing the fundamental principles of truthful acting.
The second year teaches the actor how to transform that instrument into character and fully realized human behavior.
Together, they create a complete artistic education rooted in the Meisner Technique and supported by one of the most comprehensive conservatory curriculums available to professional actors training in New York City.

FIRST YEAR — Building the Instrument
The first year is devoted to building the actor's foundation.
Students learn to listen deeply, respond truthfully, trust spontaneous impulses, and create vivid human behavior grounded in truth rather than indication and manipulation. At the same time, they develop their voice, body, emotional life, and artistic awareness through an integrated conservatory curriculum.
Every class strengthens the work happening inside the acting classroom.
SECOND YEAR — Transforming the Instrument
With the foundation established, the second year shifts toward character, transformation, and interpretation.
Students learn to analyze scripts, create psychologically complex characters, master advanced vocal and physical technique, work on camera, and prepare for the artistic and professional realities of a career in theatre, film, and television.
Throughout the year, actors are challenged to bring greater specificity, imagination, and originality to increasingly demanding material while remaining grounded in truthful human behavior.
CHOOSE THE PROGRAM THAT FITS YOUR GOALS
Every actor arrives with different experience, schedules, and professional commitments.
Our conservatory offers multiple pathways while preserving the integrity of the training.
