Summer Acting Program (Online)

Now is an extraordinary time to be an actor. Theaters are closed, movies are not in production, television shows aren’t shooting, schools are not open. So, what is a professional actor to do? Simple. Work. And work some more. This summer, actors have a unique opportunity to approach the recent influx of downtime and treat it as “found time.” thanks to the Summer Conservatory at Maggie Flanigan Studio. This leading Meisner training conservatory is moving its full summer actor training program to an online format. The new virtual program gives actors a rare opportunity to hone their technique, expand emotional capacity, and delve even more deeply into the art of Meisner acting in online courses. When the recovery comes, hundreds of actors can emerge with a high level of training, ready to tackle any acting challenge with more depth, spontaneity, and authenticity than they ever thought possible.

The summer acting programs at Maggie Flanigan Studio always provides a rich experience for actors, who work furiously to pack an incredible amount of training into a shorter period. The Summer Acting Program for Students and Professionals

The Meisner summer intensive at Maggie Flanigan Studio is Meisner training taught at one of the best acting programs in New York City. Too many self-declared professional acting programs are simplified discussion-based classes. Not so with Maggie Flanigan Studio. Our Summer Acting Program (Conservatory) is the same six-week Intensive it has always been, but now with artistic challenges designed to work in virtual classrooms.

Students can expect to attend online classes that will take from 15 to 26 hours each week, depending on their class load. The talented, creative and hard-working team at Maggie Flanigan have adapted the high quality, results-driven MFS curriculum to benefit students in an online forum. In fact, they’ve devised methods for leveraging the challenges of working virtually, using the “on-camera,” aspect of classes to provide an even more rewarding and exciting learning experience.

Actors who persevere in this format and are willing to dedicate themselves to working hard during class, and outside of classroom hours, will experience tremendous artistic and personal growth. Be ready for a renewed career and brand new opportunities in the coming year by training with us.

Creating the Best Online Summer Acting Program

Meisner adapts well to working in an online classroom, as listening intently and responding in the moment are exercises essential to the technique. And, with a full class load, actors will train with our experienced team, all dedicated to student success.

Beginning in early June, through the end of July, be introduced to the first third of Acting 1: Meisner Technique. There are rigorous exercises and classwork, as well as expected work outside of virtual classroom hours, something the studio is known for. The full Summer Conservatory roster includes Voice 1, Movement 1, and a choice of auxiliary classes: On Camera, Commercial 1, Mask & Character, Playwriting, Nutrition, and Self-Care For Actors. Summer Acting Program students can take more than one auxiliary class, and will get enrollment priority in these add-on classes.

Great candidates for this program include students from undergraduate theater programs, those currently pursuing an MFA, or international actors looking for a professional introduction to Meisner technique. Professional actors living in New York City or Los Angeles are also great candidates for this program, as actors work collaboratively and push each other to new levels of excellence and artistry.
