Education
Jayme holds a BFA in Theater & Film from Columbia College Chicago and an MFA in Acting for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He also trained at The Academy of Theatrical Combat in Hollywood for 5 years before becoming an ATC endorsed instructor.
Experience
Jayme is an actor, independent filmmaker, and fight choreographer. At times he also sings while covered in body paint as his musical alter ego, maybesoon. Acting credits include Gravesend (Amazon), Heartbeat (NBC), Underemployed (MTV), The cult horror film, “The Diabolical,” and Hamlet at The Globe Theater.
Jayme currently serves as a master instructor and fight coordinator for Theatrical Combat NYC. With more than 15 years of experience in swordplay, Aikido, Arnis, and hand-to-hand combat for the screen, his work as an action actor and fight designer includes credits on multiple Star Wars and Disney projects, Netflix’s Fuller House, The Globe’s Hamlet, and more.
As a filmmaker, Jayme has self-produced multiple award-winning independent films and mini-series. He is also the Co-Founder of TandemVision, a production company that empowers actors to self-produce their own independent films and series.
Philosophy
As a teacher, my goal is to help my students cultivate true awareness of their bodies and minds. The more awareness we have, the more versatile we become. This is why theatrical combat training is so valuable. It’s not just about learning to portray violence safely on screen and stage, it’s also about having control over our own bodies, being truly present with others, and adapting to unexpected situations.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
“I was placed in the intense reigns of Charlie Sandlan. I became a better artist, actor, friend, sibling and daughter because of the studio. Even now, I crave the studio every day. What I learned is present in my work every day. I truly believe in everything they stand for.”
Jes Macallan
“Maggie taught me that I could control my work, my acting, and to throw all of the bullshit out that I had in my head about ‘what I should be doing’ and to just listen and respond honestly, in the moment. She gave me a craft. She is, quite simply put, THE BEST.”
Leslie Bibb
“Maggie Flanigan taught me the true meaning of artistry, passion, and professionalism. I am certain that I continue to work as an actress because of my training with Maggie. At every audition and every performance, her guiding voice is with me. It is a gift beyond measure.”
