Our summer conservatory program, known industry-wide as the gold standard of summer acting programs, has been carefully curated to provide students with an MFA-caliber conservatory experience.

This intensive program, particularly renowned for its accurate progression of the Meisner Technique, caters to beginners or advanced actors, introducing them to a solid technique for creating behavior on stage and screen.

Focus on Scene Study and Meisner Technique

The end of the Meisner summer intensive culminates in scene work. In the full first year of the Meisner Technique, students do three rounds of scenes. The summer acting course finishes with the first round of scenes.

Meisner intended for the first twelve classes to begin with his repetition exercise, where students learn how to listen, and how to get the attention off themselves and onto their partner, fully present and spontaneous. This is then brought to the scenes, teaching the actors how to improvise emotionally through a piece of material, how to avoid waiting for cues, doing line readings, and adjusting to the text.Ā

Acting is the ability to do truthfully under an imaginary circumstance. The full progression of the first year of the Meisner Technique develops the actors’ skill set, for this to be a consistent way of working. Crafting in a simple, specific, and personal way, combined with authenticity, spontaneity, and empathy is what is introduced in the six-week Meisner Summer Intensive.

Comprehensive Approach to Acting Technique

This intensive program, spanning six weeks, is designed to challenge students to achieve substantial growth in a condensed time frame. Our training emphasizes both the technical aspects of acting, as well as the development of a solid artistic sensibility.
